Hive names Spectora and HomeGauge on their site. This table names Hive the same way, next to typical cloud writers and desktop-plus-companion tools. Every IntellectSpect claim matches what the product does today — not a Hive feature we have not shipped.
Photo storage
Typical platforms keep large images inside the report record. Jobs get slow; a lost save can drop a whole gallery.
IntellectSpect stores photos as files and keeps a short URL on the report. The client report still looks the same — it just stays fast.
Field reliability
Hive and other cloud writers often autosave quietly. If the attic note did not persist, you find out after the client opens the report.
Web and phone show Saved, Saving, or Not saved. Conditions autosave. Findings can be edited in place instead of duplicated.
Your comment language
Hive and others import templates. Finding wording still lives in their library, or you retype it every job.
Import your own comments into your templates — description, implication, and recommendation — then tap them into any later finding on web or phone.
Client and agent access
Hive gives clients and agents a portal login. Older tools generate usernames that are easy to lose. Repair lists often need a second login.
Email the address already on the job and get a two-hour sign-in link. Agents also have /agent — a two-hour inbox of released reports. The repair request list prints from the same portal.
Trial
Hive offers an instant 5-report trial. Typical writers ask you to wait on a demo.
CAPTCHA, then the company is created immediately — 5 inspections. Trial shops can print and email the finished report. Booking emails, SMS, and follow-up drips wait until you go live. First live month has unlimited reports (no $2 overage).
Onboarding
Hive and others sell a kickoff call as a separate package.
Book a 20-minute Calendly slot on /onboarding to import your comments and one agreement.
Inspection reminders
Hive includes Email+SMS in the $99 plan. The paid extra is website/SEO, not SMS.
Evening-before and hours-before reminders can email and SMS the client and agent phones on the job when Twilio is set. Follow-up emails and texts after the job use the delay, channel, audience, and wording the company writes.
Shop website
Hive sells website/SEO as a paid extra. Many writers leave you on one book link or a WordPress rebuild.
The public shop is in the seat — no website/SEO fee, and we do not sell monthly SEO. Today /book/{slug} is the live shop (logo, tagline, service area, hours, reviews, types, and book). At go-live each company gets five pages: Home, Services, Book, Reviews, and Contact, filled from Booking.
Repair-list estimates
Hive shows min–max ranges on the agent repair list. Many writers are a single number or none.
One Est. $ box on web and phone. Type 800 or 800-1200. Clients and agents see the range and a ranged total.
Appliances and nameplates
Hive pushes appliance age from photo analysis into the report.
Home inspections include an Appliances tab. Analyze fills Type, Brand, Model, Serial, Manufacture Year, and Estimated Age from a readable nameplate.
How clients pay
Hive takes card inside their stack. ACH and pay-at-close are extra setup.
Card to the company’s Stripe. USD clients can pick a separate ACH / bank transfer Checkout with no card fee. Pay at close is a built-in option on the request link. Canada still has Interac.
Writing speed
Hive leads with AI voice and photo writing. Older tools are tap-to-insert comments. Photo analysis is still rare outside that class.
Fill Report maps speech to the active tab. Analyze drafts description, implication, recommendation, and severity from a photo or from stills of a video clip — you edit, then save.
Video on findings
Hive advertises video walkthroughs on reports. Older writers are photo-only — a clip stays on the phone.
Record or attach video on a finding. Clients play it on the report. Analyze uses stills from the clip. No per-clip fee.
Report language
Hive advertises multi-language reports. Many others are English-only, or you pay to translate wording you already typed.
Setup → Report language: English, Français, or Español for report and repair-list chrome and Print / Save as PDF. Typed findings stay as written. Official WETT PDFs stay English.
Who gets paid
Some platforms take a technology fee on every inspection card payment, on top of Stripe. Hive takes card payments inside their all-in-one stack.
Inspection card charges go to the company’s own Stripe account. IntellectSpect bills the $139 seat separately — no technology fee on the job payment.
Canada and specialty
Hive and most US-centric catalogs treat WETT and Interac as afterthoughts or omit them.
WETT credential gating and original PDF checklists. Interac e-Transfer on the request link, plus card.
